Welcome to Business Deep Dives

At Business Deep Dives (BDD), we believe great investments begin with great research. BDD aims to be an independent investment research publication focused on delivering detailed, objective, and long-form analyses of publicly traded companies. Our mission is to provide investors with the clarity and depth necessary to develop a fundamental understanding of the businesses they follow or invest in.

We do not aim to provide short-term trading recommendations. Instead, the focus is on the structural economics of the business, their positioning, and the long-term value creation potential of companies—regardless of current market sentiment.

Our Philosophy

In a world saturated with information, our opinion is that signal matters more than speed. Our reports are built from the ground up—emphasizing context over commentary, long-term fundamentals over quarterly noise, and intellectual integrity over consensus views.

At Business Deep Dives, we produce in-depth research on exceptional public companies to give investors a complete understanding of how each business truly works. Our reports go beyond surface-level metrics, combining narrative and numbers to uncover what drives long-term value creation. Rather than focusing on short-term market moves or quarterly noise, we aim to clarify the broader strategic picture that matters over years, not months.

We are guided by the following principles:

  • Clarity through Depth: Each report is designed to be a standalone, initiation-level resource that explains the company as if the reader is encountering it for the first time.

  • First-Principles Research: Every analysis begins from the origin story of the business, its value proposition, and its core economic engine—before moving into risks, numbers and valuation.

  • Independent Judgement: Conclusions made are based on primary sources, fundamental analysis, and internally built models, as opposed to the reliance on external ratings, narratives, or crowdsourced opinion.

  • Educational by Design: Every publication aims to enhance the reader’s understanding of the business model, capital allocation, industry structure, and valuation framework.

Our Content Structure

Although BDD is evolving, our research will typically fall into the following categories:

  • Yield (coming soon): Income oriented research which includes but not limited to dividend paying companies, REITs, fixed income investments, with a particular focus on its durability of cash flows through market cycles, and dividend paying ability.

  • Small Cap Deep Dives (coming soon): Flagship-style reports on sub-$10B names. Expect extra attention to liquidity, governance, and key-man risk.

These are our most concise, timely, and accessible reports. They provide a high-level view of a company’s recent developments, valuation, and positioning. While shorter in format, they maintain analytical rigor and are typically driven by current events, earnings, or market opportunities.

  • Flagship Deep Dives (coming soon): This is our core product. Comprehensive reports that cover the company’s history, strategic evolution, product lines, industry dynamics, financial model, valuation, and investment considerations.

  • Exploratory Reports (coming soon): Shorter, hypothesis driven research to map a company quickly before committing to a full deep dive.

  • Evolution Series (coming soon): The Evolution Series chronicles a company’s journey quarter by quarter, tracing how its narrative, strategy, and financial performance evolve over time. Rather than focusing on short-term beats or misses, each installment connects the latest results to the broader investment thesis—showing how management decisions, market dynamics, and capital allocation shape the long-term story. It’s a living deep dive: an ongoing study of business evolution in real time.

  • Implication Report (coming soon): These reports take major company related headlines then extrapolating the news into second and third order effects, and in effect what implications these developments have to one’s portfolio as well as the business itself.

  • Macro Commentary (coming soon): If appropriate, we will write-up matters that relate to a business in terms of the context that matters for businesses we either follow or are starting to take a look at. It zooms outwards, examining how macro variables such as inflation, FX developments, supply chains, regulation, interact with business fundamentals.

  • Supplemental Research (coming soon): Methodology memos, required readings, interview takeaways, and essentially everything else we found valuable that we’d like to share with you.

  • Storefront (coming soon): A-la-carte PDFs and models for readers and customers who prefer to purchase individual reports.

  • AI Analyst (coming soon): An interactive Q&A interface (beta) to assist users in doing their own due diligence on a given company of their choice.

  • Bespoke (coming soon): Commissioned Research on a specific company, tailored to your brief.

  • Consulting (coming soon): (coming soon)

  • Data Center (coming soon): Cleaned datasets of where we get our information, or rather, a collection of data points including but not limited to by geography, sector, industry, updated quarterly or annually.

  • Sponsorships & Affiliates (coming soon): Get in touch with us to discuss sponsorships and/or becoming an affiliate of BDD. Strict separation of research.

  • About: This page. Our mission, approach, and standards.

Our goal is to offer in-depth investment research that goes beyond surface-level analysis. Each report is crafted to serve individual investors, family offices, and investment professionals seeking a more thoughtful and insightful approach to equities. We aim to blend institutional-level rigor with a retail-accessible format.

What Makes Us Different:

  • Depth Over Volume: Every deep dive goes deep — we will not, however, sacrifice quality for quantity.

  • Independent & Unbiased: We’re not paid by companies. We research businesses because they’re interesting, with favorable characteristics, — and potentially undervalued.

  • Retail Friendly, Institution-Grade: Our reports are built with the depth expected by institutional fund managers, yet clear enough for serious individual investors.

Who We Serve:

  • Long-term investors seeking clarity in complex companies

  • Professionals looking for deeper diligence in their own equity research

  • Builders and operators curious about how great businesses compound

Transparency and Alignment

We do not accept payment from companies for coverage. Our work is driven solely by intellectual curiosity, analytical discipline, and our desire to build a research library that is both informative and enduring. Mentioned companies are often added to our internal Watchlist for ongoing monitoring.
